Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Monday expressed deep concern over rising political divisions at home, even as India presents a united front against terrorism on the global stage through an all-party parliamentary delegation.
Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, Khurshid wrote: “When on mission against terrorism, to carry India’s message to the world, it’s distressing that people at home are calculating political allegiances. Is it so difficult to be patriotic?”
Khurshid, who is part of the multi-party delegation currently visiting East Asian nations, emphasized the importance of national unity when confronting global threats like terrorism. He highlighted that while India aims to speak in one voice abroad, domestic discourse is often marred by partisan concerns.
On Sunday, Khurshid reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism, stating, “With one voice India is saying, ‘Terrorism no more.’ We hope to create a collective rise against terrorism to make the globe peaceful and prosperous… We can confidently say, ‘Hum honge kaamyaab’.”
While addressing a gathering in Kuala Lumpur, Khurshid stressed that the delegation’s diversity—featuring members from various political parties, religions, and regions—symbolizes unity in the face of national challenges.
“We are from different parties, regions, and religions, yet we speak in a single voice when it comes to the nation and our motherland. That is the message we are here to convey,” he stated.
Khurshid further drew a powerful comparison to the armed forces, noting that soldiers defending India’s borders do so with only one purpose: to protect Mother India, regardless of personal or political identity.
The all-party parliamentary delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, is visiting multiple East Asian countries to underscore India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and to strengthen partnerships in global security cooperation.
